The CD encompasses 21 types of multiple choice verbal reasoning questions know to occur nationally in the actual verbal reasoning multiple choice 11plus tests and common entrance examinations.
Why is there one type of question missing?
One type of question has been left out of the CD because we consider it to be of a higher difficulty level than would be required for a Beginner’s CD. The questions are however included in the Level 1 and Level 2 short practice papers that are available as e-paper downloads.

How long should my child spend on each 25 question section?
Different types of questions pose different problems to different children. Therefore some children will find some sections easier than others. Eleven plus exams test intelligence, speed and accuracy. The intelligence element in verbal reasoning tends to be limited as each question type has a specific technique that once a child has mastered it, they tend to sail through the section with consummate ease. The speed and accuracy will come from continuous practice of this and other practice material available. This CD enables multiple attempts, with a gap in between, which will enable you to monitor progress.
Will any of my child’s details or scores be transmitted out of my computer?
No. The CD software is self-contained and totally secure and fully encrypted. It will not transmit the score or indeed any other information other than at the time of installation when it verifies that you are the rightful owner of the software. Therefore once activated you can run the CD software offline secure in the knowledge that your use of the software will remain private.
Is this CD suitable for 12 plus?
Yes. In most LEAs (Local Education Authorities) 12plus verbal reasoning tends to be the same as 11plus exams however you are given less time and often more questions to complete.
My child is sitting a standard (non-multiple choice) verbal reasoning paper, would this CD still be useful?
Yes. Even though the format of questions is different standard verbal reasoning questions have many question types in common with the multiple choice question types. Furthermore around 80% of the verbal reasoning papers actually test the strength of vocabulary and so irrespective of the multiple choice nature of the questions this CD will either introduce new words or reinforce known words. The CD also acts as a fun break from the monotony of endless papers.
Once I have installed the CD software will I be able to move it to another machine?
Unfortunately, not. The security on the software will tie your installation and activation to a specific computer as well as a unique 16-digit alpha-numeric key and your e-mail at the time of purchase. This level of security helps us combat software piracy and keep the price of this software low.
Can I try before I buy?
Yes, of course. We offer a free to download DEMO version that contains 105 original questions (5 per verbal reasoning multiple choice question type) that will give you the same look and feel as well as the full functionality actual software. Your PC will need to have Macromedia Flash Version 8 to run this DEMO.
Is it possible to cheat during a timed test?
No. The answers are only revealed when the child has completed the test. If the child pauses the test for any reason the question on the screen is covered up during this period.
How much does each question cost?
On the download version it costs you less than 2p per question to have as many attempts as you like marked and timed. On the CD version it costs less that 2 1/2p per question.
What is the advantage of the CD over normal practice papers?
As noted above better value. Of course there is no hassle of marking the papers, since the software automatically times and marks and stores the previous 10 attempts. The child can do multiple attempts of any test. The CD is also more motivating for children as they can monitor their own progress. Furthermore practice papers can seem tedious and thus the CD breaks the monotony of practice papers whilst continuing to enhance your child’s chances of success.
Do the authors, The Tutors, sell any other practice material?
Yes. Apart from this CD the tutors also sell sets of practice papers (see our online book shop) and E-Papers (pay and download practice material).
