how about the library?

lots and lots of choice and you can try books that you might never have thought of. If you choose a dud it doesn;t matter.

I am a great fan of libraries!!

Me too; but I think the OP was after some guidance on what to borrow from them. I just thought it might be useful to drag all the back threads into one place and tidy them up so people with similar issues have a first reference point.

I wouldn't mind doing it, btw, but wouldn't have the access privileges to do so.

Another one here for Roald Dahl, Morpurgo and Enid Blyton. My 7yr old DD absolutely adores them all!

Amber-I think a sticky for recommended reading for different age groups would be fab, we are alway's looking for new book reading ideas in our house :)
