Hi, Can anybody tell me what the GL english tests contain?
I assume there is a comprehension part, but is there also a writing part, a spelling part, a cloze test, or other things?
:)

Wakey, wakey everybody! - Oh I do hope you're not all too hung over from Snowdrop's ongoing henparty 8) :D

Just waking up this thread again, to see if there is somebody hiding out there, who has the GL/NFER English practice papers, who can pretty please tell me what they contain :?:
(There doesn't seem to be much information given by the publisher except "11+ English - choice of standard or multiple choice" - and in the shops they are shrinkwrapped.... )

pist i have the papers right in front of me so here it goes:

first there is the long long comprehension with 25 questions.
then there is a passage for finding spelling mistakes. 8 questions
after that is a passage for finding punctuation and capital letters 8 questions.
finally 8 questions on finding the right word in the passage.

i hope that helps!

Thank you so much 11+ novice :D

The last bit about finding words in a passage - is that like a text with some of the words at the bottom, or do you have a selection to choose from for each sentence (hope this makes sense )

Oh, also is it multiple choice or standard version you have got?

Thanks
pist

I only use the multiple-choice comprehension sections, (to be fair the others are either really easy or not relevant to Birmingham) but my group seem to find them easier than the Bond multi-choice comprehension papers.
I would be interested to know if others found the same.

My DS also finds the Bond practice paper comprehension texts more difficult. They are usually more complex and longer - I don't think it helps that the writing is so small and condensed either.
