Tutor Masters Comprehension - paper E
Hi All
A punctuation question from Tutor Masters paper E:
When they arrived it was very foggy so they waited for it to clear
According to the answer sheet, there is no comma in the above sentence. Shouldn't there be one after 'arrived' ? When they arrived is a subordinate clause and when a subordinate clause follows a main clause, there should be a comma after the subordinate clause.
Also before 'so' shouldn't there be a comma? they waited for it to clear is an independent clause and if two independent clauses are separated by a coordinating conjunction (like so, for eg), then you need a comma to separate them.
