Titles such as "Trapped" "The Intruder" "A Day at the Seaside" "The New School" are common. Skills they are looking for are the ability to control the story and move events and characters through time. Try and have a dilemma and resolve it. A strong ending is really important where issues are resolved and characters have undergone some type of change. Structure is crucial. I find very few students who have been taught how to do creative writing well at school. At our local semi selective it is the creative writing that is the decider on who wins a place. You are very wise to prepare. DG
