DS chose nice as it describes the action word playing
but that is not the answer

Quite....the adverb for was, which modifies nice. Nice is the adjective for it I think? if nice ended in ly it would be an adveb.
E.g. We played nicely in the snow.
Very very confusing!
Horrible question though and poor English too, I may be wrong , knock on peridots door with a pm, she is the English grammar and spelling queen of epe forum.

The answer is QUITE. It is an adverb of degree/modifying adverb. Other examples are: extremely,really, very, fairly, rather etc
