how do you wean a child off the dreaded clifffhaneger ending or " I woke up" :x

I have tried every ploy I know, but he still thinks this is th eway to end a story.

It is so obvious that he could just be writing " Then I got bored and couldn't be bothered thinking anything else!"

I know you are a teacher too so I know that you probably really have tried everything but what I would try is to JUST get him to write a few endings to stories that have either already been written or to ones that you maybe come up with together. I would imagine that, like you say, he has become bored and just wants to get finished. this might relieve some of the boredom...on the other hand I know how hard it is to teach some boys to improve their writing!!
