I don't know.

I would presume that they are looking for evidence of good punctuation, complex sentences, paragraphs and good, ambitious vocabulary. If it is a story then a good structure and an awareness of the reader. If non fiction writing then vocabulary and style suitable for that genre e.g. Use of formal vocabulary, passive voice etc.

Levels are no longer used, but if you look here

https://www.gov.uk/government/uploads/s ... 4_2014.pdf

it should give you some idea of what is looked for at higher end of KS2.

In Kent the written piece is not marked. It is only looked at in the event of an appeal. They then look for key indicators like grammar, structure, spelling, flow, vocabulary. It isn't marked as such, more 'does it shout grammar material'. I don't know about Medway.

Yes, only in case of borderline scores, at least that's what it used to be and , as far as I am aware, it still is.

Don't worry too much about it, the old level descriptors will show the sort of standard which is expected (look at 5 as an aim).
