Catchment criteria

Quick question on how the catchment criteria is used by SGS and HGS. Is this a tiebreaker for students who get the same mark or is it done simply by distance as long as the pass mark is achieved. For example if HGS select the first 70 by pass mark and the next 50 by proximity, are the latter 50 selected purely on proximity so that a student with say 111 would get priority if they lived closer over another student who got say 114 assuming the 114 student didnt make the list of 70.Or is proximity used to split the tie if students get the same Mark?

My understanding is that after the first quota is selected by 'highest mark first' then the second are selected by proximity as long as the pass mark is achieved.
This does mean that (HGS) within the latter 50 a child who achieves 111 will be admitted before a child who achieves 114 if they live nearer the school.
