Reading Grammars

Whilst browsing came across this on the Reading LA web site, under the Schools Admissions Forum section, minutes of last meeting:
So they are aware of New Admissions code guidance for grammars, but doesn't look like they are about to bring in this recommended good practice. In relation to Grammar Schools, the draft Code stated that preference could not be given to siblings in the over-subscription criteria. Grammar and other schools, which were using selection by ability or aptitude, should ensure parents were informed of the outcome of entry tests before making their applications to other schools. However, pupils must not be given an offer of a place other than by the local authority administering the coordinated admission scheme. It was therefore evident that the test result letter would need to be carefully worded to avoid formally offering a place but at the same time providing parents with sufficient information to make an informed choice.
