Post by Sonia »

Hi Seniors,

As the DD is my first child so getting anxious as exam day is approaching (Sept 22, 2012) (Looks like its my exam not my DD :? )

Can seniors, experienced parents suggest/advise me what to
1) Week before exam ?
2) Day before the exam ?

Thanks in advance.

Hi Sonia

In our case we did nothing just before the exam (ie few days before) to ensure DCs calm and fresh on the exam day.

Good luck

A week before we were still doing the last of the practise papers.

The day before, we put the papers away and just played a couple of word games.

Each child is different, as the parent you know them best.
They may just want to chill, which would be okay too, as they know what they need to, by this stage.

What I did with each of the boys, a week before, was give them the present they had each wanted (the carrot) if they passed the exam. It gave them time to play with it and get used to their new toy. When I gave it to them, I also explained that, 'It didn't matter if they passed, the gift was for all the effort/work they had put into getting ready to sit the exam'. I was truly hoping it would help relieve a bit of the strain/stress for them.
For us parents on the other hand, well, stress goes with our hat

Hello to all, I am coming back after nearly 18months of gap

Slough consortium exam is on 22nd Saturday

My Question: Where can child do their rough work during exam, can they write on the question paper or does the school provide spare white paper for work out.

My GS appeared 11+ in 2010 but he does not remember what happened then hence asking

Thanks for your help
