Re: Reading School (Reading Boys) 2012 Entrance Test Results
cestlavie said a couple of days ago that
RS said earlier that they would say suitable or not - is there no other indication?
374 sounds great
Well done to your ds Daremma - sounds like he did really well from a standing start. Are you happy with your other choices?
It's really difficult to give more information, because in previous years, those with initial offers aren't told their scores. Those on the waiting list are, as I understand it, so you need more of them to come alongIn case it is helpful, two years ago, DS1 scored 338 and ended up on the waiting list, 343 was the mark needed to be in the first set of offers (they did actually give the scores to 2 dp so there won't be much chance of multiple boys on the same score). That year there were 537 applications.

@Daremma, Average score of 104 is good...that place your DS at top 40% of children who took the test. Athough he is not likley to get a place at Reading, his performance is very good considering what you said. Wish your DS a great success whichever secondary school he ends up with!
Do you have a good comprehensive in your area?

Thank you for the kind comments.
We do have a very good comp in the area we are now in and he'll be able to walk there within 10 minutes so really pleased.
Thank you for working out the % of where DS ended up - hopefully he won't be too disappointed (you know how kids get).
This website has been of enormous use - I really didn't have a clue!

DS2 got 309 - really pleased with that as it puts him a bit higher than I'd expected and discounts any need to apply when he really wants to go with DS1 to another school. Hope he'll be happy
Btw, he said maths was the hardest but scored substantially higher in it than reasoning or english. Goes to show that what they say doesn't actually translate into results!

You state that the result is 38 marks above the cut off. Unless you're out of the designated area I think you've answered your own question?reading 1234 wrote:just got results .got 374.

Thank -you. Still worried as most people reporting mark as same or around the same.
Fingers crossed for every one still waiting

Where did you get the 336 from? Is that given in the letter as a cut-off? If it is, then I guess that's the "suitable for the school" cut-off, rather than a guarantee of a place, but 374 seems to be safely above it - well done to your ds

Just got results....DS scored 333...cutoff is at 336...
Should I still give it a go in the admissions form?
Are there any chances of DS being on a waiting list?
