My son is on waiting list - I am seeking inputs if anyone has definite data points on following please -

1. what is the mark at which very last few of 100 boys offered a place at Reading school this year?
2. what is approximate number of boys put up on waiting list this year?

Thanks.

Hi

Based on information received from various parents, I believe cut off is 346 and that there about 25 children on waiting list, so those who scored 336 and above.

Hope that helps

Thanks for your reply - however I did see a post last Friday for someone who had received an offer at 345 if I'm correct..
Nevertheless, if the waiting list is for 25 boys, is it a fair assumption that first 10boys may have bright chances to be offered a day place (this could be based on last 2years data that unfortunately I can't find), please?

Hi
2011 entry 100th ranked 343.41 120th ranked 338.71 (537 tested in October)
2012 entry 100th ranked 343.51 120th ranked 338.13 (531 tested in October)
2013 entry 100th ranked 346.84 120th ranked 341.78 (607 tested in October)

There are 100 day-boy places however (stating the obvious)
1) Not everyone who sits the test and scores well applies for a place and some who are offered subsequently turn it down.
2) The school's over subscription criteria gives preference to any statemented and looked after boys who are above the cut off.

Those two factors have the effect of moving the last place offered away from a simplistic 100th ranked in opposite directions but I don't by how much. You could ask the school. I'm sure as a public authority operating in an open and transparent way they'd tell you what has happened in previous years. http://ico.org.uk/~/media/documents/dec ... 504859.pdf.
