Re: Slough schools allocation March 2015
Family4 - cut off for Langley was 124. So with a score of 123 I think you've got a very good chance of getting in.
For the 123s they'll do them in distance from school (I think). So the nearer you live the more likely it is you'll get in.
But I think there is always some movement from the waiting list, and you are likely to get in.
For example some children sit for Langley, but then take up Independent offers. So their place become available....
Or get offered a place at Langley, but then later get offered a place at one of the single sex schools in Bucks which they take up.

Re: Slough schools allocation March 2015
Hi
Does anyone know when do the schools start
sending 2nd round of offers(waiting list candidates)?
Do they wait to hear all the appeals or send the offers once
the seats get available?
Thanks

Re: Slough schools allocation March 2015
As far as I'm aware, a successful oversubscription appeal means the school has to admit the child often though it is full, but the school is not allowed to 'hold' places below PAN pending appeals if there are still applicants on the waiting list. However, if a successful appeal takes the school over PAN, the school will not admit any more from the waiting list unless or until the number in the year drops below PAN again.Family4 wrote:Hi

Re: Slough schools allocation March 2015
Has Langley Grammar cut off(124) gone higher this year as compared to previous years(117/118) ?
Re: Slough schools allocation March 2015
Langley Grammar cut off is higher this year.
But it's hard to know if that's because with the new exam the marks came out differently, or if it's due to their admissions policy change.
If a lot of students got accepted under the FSM and staff's children criteria then the cut off mark will be higher

Re: Slough schools allocation March 2015
Another reason for higher Langley cut off could be the catchment rules of Reading(and Kendrick) and Tiffins(both Tiffins boys and TGS) schools?
If that is the case then it is very good for Langley school as it will have many bright DCs who would have otherwise opted for the above schools?

Re: Slough schools allocation March 2015
You are absolutely right there, I know of boys who lives in Slough and had scored quite high to get a place in Reading School but had to settle for Langley due to catchment rules.berks_mum wrote:Another reason for higher Langley cut off could be the catchment rules of Reading(and Kendrick) and Tiffins(both Tiffins boys and TGS) schools?

Someone's gain (Langley's) is someone's loss (Reading School's)
