What is St Bernard's grammar like on sports and music?

Post by Iva »

We are strongly considering going for St Bernard's grammar.
We visited the open even with the Head master speech and he left very positive impact on us.

I was just wondering what the school is like on sports and music. My son is into football and plays piano in his spare time.

Music is good at St Bernard's.
They offer it at GCSE/A-level and have music ensembles for those who are interested.

Sport wise it is fairly traditional football/netball though other sports are done in PE such as rowing, indoor gym, basketball. They do also have some cricket and girls football.
Sport is not a huge priority but very much part of the curriculum.

That's what was imparted on the open day tour, anyway.

I currently have children there. PE lessons are good and PE can be taken as a GCSE option. Extra-curricular sport is limited, very little team sport just really netball and football and on a small scale with occasional matches.

How do you generally find the school. We still have not filled the CAF and are strongly considering St Bernard's.

Have experience of the school over the last 5 years and my children are happy there and have good relationships with staff. It's good academically and comparable to other Slough grammar schools (some good staff, some could be better) and behaviour in lessons is good.
