Depending on where you live, I would check the routes to these possible schools and choose the most easily accessible school.
You sound like a parent who will obviously help and support your son to sit the 11+. So as long as you accept that primary schools (neither state nor private) will explicitly help to prepare for the 11+, just make sure he enjoys his new school and makes friends.
I know a little about Katesgrove and Newtown and neither are bad schools, just that there is a lot of turnover with families moving in and out of the area I believe.
