DS is having a full day visit to Reading along with the other future year 7s.

If he comes back with all the kit we sent him in with it'll be a success :)

Hope everyone has fun!

Hi wokinghamdad,

I am sure it will be a fun day.

I drove past two bus stops this morning and saw several "new boys" waiting. :) . I can not believe we have nearly completed our year seven.

Y7 have been told not to stare at new boys or stand next to them to prove they are bigger, "It's not a peep show"

Last year my DS came home tired but happy, lots of new faces and places, proper science labs. :)

Hope it all goes well.

DS home after a fun and stimulating day. Now wants to start asap!!
Nice that quite a few primary school 'old boys' said hello to him. Made him feel very welcome.

DS came home excited but wary of the 'big' boys.

Loved the tag system and after eating packed lunch thought he'd try out a burger and got a fizzy drink  (which he and me were both surprised that they allowed.)

Had a fun day and looking forward to starting, especially re: going on the PGL trip next July :D

Brand new experience, hope it only gets better.

Shame they didn't do the Summer school thing this year, though.

:D

wokinghamdad, bessie, BW and others?

Glad to hear it was positive all round. :)

Reading do make an effort as "happy boys are successful boys"

I hope all next year's Year 7 boys got a flavour of the school - the Tuck Shop and the eating facilities in general are a continual problem. There are plans to have a proper, covered dining area but nothing has been agreed and started. I doubt whether any of the new boys will ever see it - mine in Year 10 certainly won't.

Well DS came back happy and excited :) Also good to see him walk out chatting to a couple of other lads as well (and with a few new names of fellow East Housers).

Now looking forward to summer and our last Latin-free months!
