Hello,

My son in Yr 5 had been doing well at Bond papers at home, usually getting 90% plus, although there certainly are the odd blips.
He recently sat a local 'mock exam' that we paid for and came out with 69%. He lost loads of marks on 'Proof reading' - had he gained these, he would have had a much higher overall score.
Can anyone explain what is required in proof reading, what skills my son needs to do this well, and how he can practice?

Thanks

Proofreading was in the exam up until last year when it did not make an appearance. Not sure it will be reintroduced. I suspect not but it would do no harm to practise a little.

Basically you can practise these by typing up a passage and putting in some common spelling mistakes (begining, canos, diffrent) which a better pupil would know, as well as some punctuation errors (mainly capital letters and full stops).
