Putting the 'Walsall' into 'Birmingham and Walsall'

Post by Dibble »

Mmmm.. The form's called "Birmingham and Walsall" but I get the idea there's just me and my lad waiting for the Queen Mary's exam to come around?

At least there's (slightly) more life than on the Wolverhampton forum!

Well, I’m glad not to be the only one here with a little way still to go.

It really does seem that If you’ve practiced for the KEGS exams, you’re practiced the Queen Mary’s too.
It’s just me that finds that hard to believe, isn’t it :-/

I just can’t accept that life can be easy sometimes; I’m always looking for the wrinkles.

I know little about Queen Mary’s, didn’t really seriously consider it until it became my sons favourite, and (out of nowhere) first preference on the LEA form.

I did go back and ask the Head about the ‘new’ exam. The previous exam was very heavily weighted to favour mathematicians, so I was looking for something similar to continue. The Head was quite clear that there is no bias for marks gained in maths, and that there’s a genuine attempt to admit pupils who are ‘able’ in a wider range of disciplines. When asked if there might simply be more maths questions/marks than English or NVR questions he may have been a little evasive, or perhaps didn’t know the answer, or *may* have been getting bored by the impertinent parent.

I know! Inexplicable, isn’t it?

For years the only school I knew anything about was Wolverhampton Girls High, and I was aching to hand out sage advice – couldn’t even tell you what test they administer now though.
