Birmingham Grammar schools consortium

Post by firebrand1 »

Am I right in thinking this year was the first year they had the common 11+ exam and other than this including V, NV, maths and english, does anyone have any intelligence on what was tested, format (eg MC or standard) etc? Anything else that would help a parent trying to help a child through.

I'm quite new to this too, but I think the sticky is the post at the beginning of the section

The sample sheet they sent was MC, and that is the format of the exam.

Thats about all I know, sorry. Is you son/daughter doing the exam this year?

No DS hopefully will sit next year. I'm DIYing having originally planned to pay for a tutor. When he assessed DS, he said DS was at a good level (and rather intimitated I'd be wasting my money paying him). So I'm DIYing but hope to get a few sessions with a tutor over the next 12 months to help with things I won't know about as well as they might eg some question and exam techniques etc. Whilst I'm ok with most of the stuff I'm not a professional educator. You?
