Just wondering. When do primary school Heads get the results of the school allocations which parents get on 1 or 2 March. Is it at the same time or earlier. Do the heads have any input to the allocation etc.

My understanding is that letters get posted on 1st March; so 2nd is the very earliest that you may receive offer. Much more likely to be Saturday 3rd, or even possibly Monday 5th. I'm wishing now that we'd applied on-line; as you can then get result on-line too!! When my year 10 daughter was awaiting her result, the offers were sent out by the schools and some posted them 2nd class. Those children didn't hear until about a week after everyone else.

We were lucky and able to intercept the postman at the end of our road, and got him to ferret through the bag to find her letter. She was about the only one in her year who actually knew on the Friday morning. Nowadays, of course, the post comes so much later. I'm going to nip home from work before I pick up year 6 daughter on Friday 2nd, and see if letter has turned up.

I can't see that primary heads have any opportunity to make an input into secondary school allocations. I know that head teachers' reports exist in other parts of the country, but there has never been any indication of this being the case in Birmingham. With Equal Opportunities being such an important issue, it is vital that the selection process be impartial.
