I have received a score breakdown for my son today.

School No of applicant Last Score
Bishop Vesey 1142 212 (not all those on this score got the offer)
KE VI Aston 1429 216
KE VI Camp Hill Boys 1205 234
KE VI Five ways 1854 225

My son got place at Five Ways, very proud of him, he is on waiting list at Camp Hill Boys i know there is a very slim chance of him getting a place at Camp Hill.

Hope this breakdown helps.

Busymum

PS - Um many thanks for the support and advise you have given in the process.

Thanks for this

Was the 'No of applicants' those who had it as first choice or who had that school anywhere in rank on the LEA form?

Hi,

The Consortium made offers to 'around' 30 over PAN for CH and I was told that last year, they only took a few children off the top of the waiting list.

Over-allocation might backfire this year as those who could afford to pay for KES or other independent schools might opt for free grammar education due to higher living costs

Hi Busybees

Congratuations to your son on getting in KEFW

I really wouldn't worry about not getting KECH - we were in exactly the same situation 7 years ago (missed KECH by 2 points) and worried at the time but it's turned out all for the best.

KEFW is fantastic school - many KEFW parents think it's far better than KECH (but they would say that wouldn't they :) )

The journey is reallty not a problem - the Green Bus is a great way to make friends

Treat it as fate - he will have a great time and do well (so long as he works hard)

The size of KEFW means that there is great flexibility when it comes to 6th form - you can choose A Levels or IB - KECHB is small so won't be able to go that route.

Hi Busybees

I share some of your anxiety, our son was not offered a place at our more local Warwickshire grammar school and is also going to have to travel some distance to KEFW. I am telling myself he will soon adapt and that he will think the journey a small price to pay for a place in a really good school.
