multiple choice papers would be marked by computer, but not sure about standard versions.

The Birmingham consortium exams are marked by hand.

Thanks, that's good to know, something else for my 'nag' list.

DS appears to have forgotten how to write over the hols, I could have sworn he got his pen pass forever ago.
