hi there, just wondered if any qm boys parents know the schools stance on children being allowed time off school to take part in other activities ie. competing in sports events or performing in theatre. our local comp is completely against this and will not allow it under any circumstances so wondered what the grammar response might be. btw, am only talking about a day or two per year, not weeks at a time!!

I am surprised that any school would not allow time for children who are taking part in performances or sports events (within reason).
After all, these are enriching educational activities.
Technically the school should register these as 'educated off premises' not absence, and the child's (and school's) attendance record should not be affected.
