Late Drop in Pass Marks from the Waiting List

Post by KenR »

Many parents may have noticed that at the final pass score of the last child to gain entry in Birmingham or other Consortium grammars can drop quite significantly from the initial March offers. In some cases recently by as much as 4-5 points.

In some cases however the final drop may be as a result of various anomalies:-

1. Many parents choosing not to remain on the waiting list after July.
2. Many parents who remain on the waiting list and who get very late offers (say after the start of the autumn term) choosing not to take up the offer over concerns that it may disrupt the child's education.

As a result the Consortium or School will continue to make offers but these may be 1 or even 2 pass marks below "natural" lowest pass score.

Great news for the parents and child who are prepared to switch school at the last minute but not something to bank on when you are reviewing scores. Just something to bear in mind
