In terms of numbers, the head at one KE school told the assembly in early September about record numbers, well in excess of 5000. My "spy" thinks the figure mentioned was 5200.

Being a nosey person, I decided to ask the question of the Admissions Office. There were about 5,400 children registered for the exam this year which is 700 up on last year.

If the volume is higher and causing a delay , then why haven't other areas been affected? Wolverhampton results were out on time. Bexley too! Hmmmm? :?

If they new the increase in volume, they should have made plans earlier to ensure results are sent on time, it now gives us parents and children's hardly any time to decide on the schools based on the results.

To be fair they should have been able to cope but have clearly been caught out. The most important thing is to get it right without any mistakes. In term of other areas they might not have had the same increase

I am not sure it takes that long to rank 6 schools?

8 days should be enough bearing in mind schools have been visited and discussed at length. Analyse the score and list in preference order any grammer schools you feel you have any chance of getting into. Then add a couple of local comprehensives and its done.

Agree, the rank order should be relatively straight forward and the reduced time to fill in the CAF shouldn't matter too much especially as the schools are breaking up for half term so there isn't the opportunity to revisit or phone anyway. The results tend to come out around half term every year.

Unless you live in Worcs where you only have 3 choices, one of which probably needs to be the local Worcs catchment school - so 2 choices only

In that case it really may need some detailed analysis
