2014 admissions data below. Columns are first applications made, Places available, PP places reserved, then applicants per place in brackets ()

Code:
KEHGS       1048   160   32   (6.6)
KECHG     806   160   32   (5.0)
SCGS     1153   180        (6.4)
KEFW     1377   190   36   (7.2)
HGS      1025   150        (6.8)
KEA      1039   129        (8.1)
KECHB     746   148        (5.0)
BV       1074   124        (8.7)

You can see BV and Aston are both at the very high end. I must say I was personally surprised that camp hil girls only got 806. In terms of strategy it might be worth sticking that in as a choice, using the logic that the less people apply the more chance you have of snatching a border line place.

Handsworth boys and KEFW look like they are tough calls for people having to make borderline plays.

I would. You have nothing to lose and stand a very good chance of a place off the waiting list, I think.

I suspect that these are the numbers of all applications whether it is first or last on the caf form. It would make sense that bv , kea and HGS have more applicants as if you put chb first you are likely to put bv and kea on the list in second or third place. If an applicant has 220 mark then they accept it isn't enough for chb so wouldn't put it on the list in most cases. The main exception to this is kefw but then that gets male and female applicants so would be higher....
