Change on address, waiting list place

Post by Shnshn »

There is a possibility of us moving house to one which is on the school road of my first choice school (am currently 70 on that waiting list)

I wanted to know if that change of addres would affect my place on the waiting list, from being 6 miles away to being less than a mile?

Not moving soley for the purpose of this school but was something that we were planning, now an opportunity has arisen im just wondering if it would move us up the list or not?

Is this KEA?
if so then distance makes no difference (unless there happens to be a space and there are several people on the same score and then the nearest is offered first)
The waiting list is on a ranked score basis and would be the same if you lived even further away

Hermanmunster - thank you for clearing that up, yes it is KEA, we were offered HG so moving would make commute to that school easier too.

If your child is on the same score as another child then you are ranked by distance. You may wish to ring and find out how many children are on your child's score perhaps? That might give an indication if how much you could possibly move up the list.

Would the address on the list be the address on another date eg when the CAF was submitted or the allocation date?

My understanding is that address changes can be made, but that this late it is at their discretion.

In short if I was higher up the list and still borderline I would get the move under way as soon as poss, I see no reason to rush though. Shhsn has Handsworth Boys in the bag and probably too late to make a difference now to the main W/L moves about to happen.

Yes, will not be rushing but hoping we get KEA as can see the school from the possible new address, CAF form had current address.
Called FO and am now 71 on list and there are 11 boys at 213...

Spoke to a year 7 KEA parent, she says someone got in last year from 112 on waiting list?? I dont think i believe that, someone mentione on this forum got a place in Septembet and was 47 in the list! I give up! This whole list thingy boggles the mind!!
If i believe that parent then i become hopeful maybe getting in from 71 on the list, if i dont then am fine at HG.
