BCC online submissions

Post by Shnshn »

I accepted my second choice school online on March 1st (we are on waiting list for 1st choice) i also received confirmation via email of this acceptance.

Today i received a letter from the sexond choice school (HGS) asking me to fill in a slip of to accept/decline and that we had 7 more days to accept/decline place!

I will offcourse do this but my understanding was that by doing it online should be enough? Maybe there is an error on their systems as they also stated a wrong date of birth too! This has me worried!

*** spoke to HGS***
BCC have not been informing them of all the places that have been accepted online!!!

I have accepted it over the phone but will also be sending in the slip too, i cannot believe that this is happening and must have some affect on the waiting lists, maybe other schools are also having this problem with BCC, could explain the very slow movement so far...
Not feeling too confident as the school also had wrong date of birth 2014 instead of 2004!!

Hi Shnshn

There is a similar post on the Waiting List thread from a BV parent. The school have phoned them to confirm if they want the place which was offered (and accepted) on 1st March. It would explain the slow movement of W/L for HGS, BV and SCGSG. I will have to call again in 7 days to see if the lists have moved significantly.

Hi helen0209 - i think i will be ringing them to keep updated on the w/l

BCC seem to be having a lot of issues with their system, my first email on March 1st didnt even state the school my son was offered and info was replaced with ****, only after logging into the online system could i see which school he was offered and able to accept from there.
Good luck with your positin on w/l, hope they start moving soon!

We were lucky enough to receive an offer from KE Handsworth on 1 March. The welcome letter from the school actually asked us to confirm our acceptance with them directly, as well as with BCC, as they said there can be delays with the school hearing from BCC re whether people are accepting or declining their place.

Hi Shnshn & others viewing this:

I just wanted to say that small fry was offered CHG on March 1st but it was not possible to accept this offer online with Birmingham City Council eadmission service.

I've double checked the letter they sent - which said:

Accepting the place offered
If you have been offered a place at a Birmingham academy or school you must return the tear off slip direct ot that academy or school by Wednesday 16 March 2016.

I just thought I'd post this in case anyone else read Shnshn's post and had a panic that they should have accepted the offer online. It seems that not everybody could (even if they applied online - as we did).

I know it should be o.k. and I have confirmation stamp from CHG which they sent back with my stamped addressed envelope. But Shnshn's post sure gave me a panic this evening that I'd forgot to do something.

Here's hoping this all works out. :? I'll go have a lie down now.

Our problem was that we are with a different local authority so sandwell had not informed BV. We had physically handed in our acceptance letter ( with a copy of birth certificate and many other forms) to them and had accepted online with sandwell. I did phone sandwell to confirm if that was all I needed to do and they stated that it was. From the calls it would seem that they contact you anyway to confirm prior to releasing the place. Hopefully the waiting lists will start moving soon for everyone.
