Dear all just wondered if anyone had any news if the KEFW's waiting list is moving at all? or as I suspect we will still be waiting until after the easter break
Thanks

hi confusedmum

We were on the waiting list for Handsworth, and I spoke to the foundation today about this.

I was told that at this stage only the list from handsworth has been used so far.

But this is because they only offered 6 over pan (FW and CH offered around 20 over).

If you call the foundation, they will be veryhelpful and give you all the info you need. You can ask questions like...

what number on the list is your child?

Has the waiting list been used yet?

Have they received all the acceptence letters yet (have they therefore already allocated all the declined places out?)

They are extremely helpful and wont mind answering these questions, that's what they are there for. Obviously, the answers will tell you whether you have exhausted the waiting list option, so you can put it out of mind and then concentrate on your appeal (if you've appealed?).

Good Luck

Dearest lottie
Many thanks for your reply.
I asked the question on behalf of a friend whos ds hasn't got into KEFW's my dd has a place.
I was very optimistic over the fact that his parents were told he was what seemed to be not far down the waiting list then found out that indeed KEFW have over offered by 20 places
But am trying to be optimistic still.
At least the foundation office is still open over the hols.
When I spoke to them over a different matter 3 days before all offers had to be accepted by the informed me that for one school - think handsworth were still awaiting over 40 people to reply ?!?!?!?

hi Confusedmum

Well done to your child, and to you for trying to help your friend.

Yes when I spoke to the foundation today, they told me that a large amount of the handsworth acceptence letters were mistakenly sent to one of the LEAs! But they now have them all.

But they also said that they haven't gone into the waitng list of any other KE school apart from Handsworth, because as you know the other schools did over offer by quite alot!! I'm not sure but I think this over offering has only been happening for a couple of years?! It's a shame it's not made clearer, because when a child is told that they are number 1, 2, 3, 4......on the list, and that other children do decline, it's gives false hope. Because realistically they are not 1, 2, 3 4 on the list they are 21st, 22nd, 23rd etc!

Hopefully your friend's child is very high on the waiting list. I would get her to call the foundation and ask what movement if any has happened already - be specific and ask how many declines they have had (hense utilising the over offers).

Fingers crossed.
