..... seeming that the Walsall forum has very few posts, I thought I'd begin and congratulate all of you that have had a positive result for entry into Grammar school. For those of you have just missed out, please praise your children no matter what.

Hi..

Nephews mum rang..He has already been offered a place at King Edwards Aston his first choice.. and had QM as his second choice..

He had some problems with the invigilator disturbing him twice to tell him to rub out his working out during the tests (we sent in a letter of complaint,so it could be put on record) and made him waste valuble time and have to guess the last four NVR questions.

His scores came by post today...

VR - 76/80 Standardised score 135

NVR - 32/40 '''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''''' 124

Total Standardised score 259

This put him in 22nd place out of 764 who took the test

So if had missed out on his first choice he would have got QM's

Very proud of him.

Hope this helps.

The post arrived ..DS got his scores for the QM's test which was his very very close second choice , really liked the open day and atmosphere.

He has been offered a place at his first choice already which is BV's so we are delighted.

VR--77/80 standardised score 139

NVR--35/40 standardised score 136

Total standardised score of 275

This put him in 4th place out of 264

So had he failed to get his first choice he would have got in at QM's..

Really proud of him as his school he used to attend had written him off because he has ADHD.

Hi Deborah

Those are top top scores for your son and nephew - well done both.

My son's scores : 77/80, 27/40 (139+111 = 250 standardised).

Position 63/764.

Again like your son/nephew, he is very fortunate/lucky and has been offered his/our choice - but it's still nice to know that how they did in other exams. He's just a 'normal' kid - no Brain of Britain by any means- so I'm well pleased with him.

Hi... Here is some more information that may be of interest to parents in the
future who take the 11+ route for QM's

Even though there is only 96 places available there are lots of children sitting the exam as a second, third, fourth fifth or sixth choice for the school itself.

This year the places offered went down to the top 191 out of the 764 who sat the exam.

This means that 95 children who attained a passmark had a different first choice, so you only needed to be in the top 25% to get a place.

Hope this helps.

Thanks Deb489 and Za1 for the useful info.

Chessdad, would you mind posting your son's results, or you can PM me if you wish - I just want to gauge the marks against positions.

Cheers Elbart
