preperation for test in 2009

Post by firsttimermum »

Hi All!!

First of all CONGRATULATIONS to all those whose children have passed!! :D
My son will be sitting the selection tests this year in 2009!!!(IN BIRMINGHAM)
I am very scared already and am totally new to the process, he attends tuition at two places. One is a one to one tutor while the other is a centre in handsworth wood(EPS)

We have visited several schools and myself went to KE CAMP HILL FOR GIRLS.

To all those whose children got into any of the KE SCHOOLS have any good tips on how to prepare him.

We are really keen on KE CAMP HILL and the KE HIGH SCHOOL for boys!!

Hi Firsttimermum and welcome to the forum.

You will find lots of help on this site, but it would be better to place your query on the board specifically for Birmingham - people probably won't see it here!

Scroll down the index and you will find Brimingham - lots of nice people over there to talk you through things :)

Hi FTM,

Yes, my daughter passed the 11+.

However, we are OOC (Out of Catchment) and was not lucky enough to be allocated a place.

We are in the process of appealing at the moment.

Really that is heartbreaking!!! Which school is this for??I live in Hodge Hill and haven't even checked info on catchment areas. How did you prepare your daughter for the exams? When did you start and how much work did your daughter do regularly?

None of the grammar schools in Birmingham have catchment areas - you can apply wherever you live, and it is only the child's score which is taken into account.
