My dd's new school doesnt offer classics as a subject but I have had a look at the syllabus for local grammars and would like to buy books for dd to read along the same lines as if she was at a grammar.

As many of you on the bucks sight have or have hade children at these schools ( or teach in them) I wondered if you could recommend some. The sylabus goes:- trojan war - greek myths- gladiators-greek theatre- cambridge latin course-homers lliad and sophocles - oedipusthe king & Antigone.

I can find books but not sure which if any are better than others, so if anyone can remember/has any books I would be most grateful for the publisher and titles. I would also be very happy to buy unwanted books if anyone's interested.

many thanks

Hi there -

Very few Bucks GS offer these subjects ... I would have thought you might be better advised to consider 12+ and build towards covering a second language e.g. German or Spanish.

PM me if there is a certain school you are thinking of
