Difficulty of Practice Test A
Just curious - how does the Practice Test A they have just done in school compare to the actual test. DD scored 76 which we were very pleased with - but is it easier that the real thing?

Test A is easier than the next two practice papers they do which are supposed to better mirror the real papers.
76/80 is great though so fingers crossed you are on course for a good score.

Re: Difficulty of Practice Test A
are the practice materials the same each year?
Re: Difficulty of Practice Test A
yes they are the same each year
Re: Difficulty of Practice Test A
...and therefore there are always some in the class who have done them before

I'm glad I didn't bother to dig them out from my previous DCs. DD got 75 for the first test and I think they are doing another today.

I agree. I have old copies from my sons but thought it best for daughter to sit them blind in exam conditions to see how she did. And so far so good. Another one this week.drummer wrote:I'm glad I didn't bother to dig them out from my previous DCs. DD got 75 for the first test and I think they are doing another today.
Re: Difficulty of Practice Test A
oh dear, only 68 today
Re: Difficulty of Practice Test A
Try not to worry too much Drummer. 68 is roughly required for a pass for August born.
Test 1 and 2 are more difficult than Paper A. When our DS did the tests a couple of years ago he got this score in the familiarisation papers but went on to pass the real thing and is now thriving at Grammar school.
I'm currently looking at back over papers my DD has done to see if there any particular code types she could improve on and I'm concentrating on those together with timings and also trying to boost her confidence and belief in herself that she can do it.
