Following much discussion, Members agreed that rather than giving priority to families living on lower floors, random allocation be introduced as the tie breaker.

I didn't realise they took the stairs into account!

Members were extremely concerned that coaching (in excess of the familiarisation and practice provided to all who took part in the testing process) was not necessarily affordable to all and that it seemed to be widely available and used by those families that had the ability to pay for the service. It was noted that this was an urgent issue and that the council needed to undertake some work in the light of the findings of the above document [this one: http://www.elevenplusexams.co.uk/forum/ ... 7&start=10] and the OSA report. An update was to be provided at the Forum’s next meeting.

Thanks for this info. So the impact of coaching on the 11 plus in Bucks is only finally now being taken seriously by the council? What planet do they live on? Doesn't NFER's own website say that VR tests are now no longer widely accepted as future indicators of potential or something along those lines? How long will it take the council to do something about the unfairness of the selection process (that is if they do anything at all)?
