I am starting this thread for the prospective parents for preparing their DS or DD to entry in GS for Sept 2012. I am one of them and would like to hear from other parents the tools and tips they are using.
Thanks to all in advance.

Thanks for starting a thread for us 2012ers. Great idea! :)

(even if it does make it all sound scarily imminent!  )

Anyone else out there?

Another here!

This site is a gold mine. Using it, I've started with the basics, and have begun with practicing types using the IPS range of books (as per the sticky on the main page).

I've also set up a countdown timer on a spreadsheet, so I can tell at a glance how many weeks to go. Whilst it feels like there's a long time to go, I'm sure that time will go quick! There doesn't seem to be enough time in the day, by time she's done school, activities, a bit of playtime and dinner time.

Just doing the 11+ prep but it all still seems a long way off...expect it will start to feel real once we have to start filling in the inevitable forms. :?

We are doing the IPS papers as well, one a week at the moment, then plan to move on to the Tutors, Susan Daughtrey and the NFER papers with the short daily tests over the summer. Well it worked for DD!

Same here. I think the pattern of practice remains the same for all the parents.
Does anyone have a list of key words for vocabulary building?
