Hello, I am thinking of moving to Downley for the downley school, I have checked out the available catchment areas but have read that some pupils in the catchment areas still might not get in... Does anyone know the real catchment areas/ radius? Or where I should look for them?

The last thing I want to do is move to an area for a school and then end up nt getting in!

You will need to move very close to the school indeed to be sure of getting in. The Allocation Distance in 2011 was 0.659 miles, although it is not clear what date that figure applies to - probably May or June, so it may have increased a little over the summer.

In 2010 the allocation profile was 0.489 miles (probably on 1st March) and by September it had increased to 0.769 miles, according to the Primary Admissions brochure, and that included all children in catchment - but probably only just! http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/assets/conten ... _entry.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

There is a new HT at The Downley School so historic data may no longer hold true. I suggest you visit before committing yourself.

When a school is this tightly over-subscribed it seems unlikely that the distance will decrease - it is more likely that, if the new Head is not going down a storm, it might just increase, but I would take no risks.

It's a fair old way from Pinewood in the rush hour (20 miles or so?).
