May I also encourage Y4 parents to go round schools on the Open Days in September 2012?
You will be far less stressed!

I agree with your comment about visiting schools. My daughter is in Year 4 currently and will be in Year 5 come September and we will definitely be visiting schools this Autumn so that she can decide whether she wants to take the 11+. Did this with my son and it was hugely motivational in getting him to study for the 11+ and he is now very happily ensconced at AGS.

It's funny, isn't it, how different we all are? I found going in year 5 (which I did with DC1&2) not very helpful at all as it was all so unreal to them at that stage, and rather abstract. I didn't bother with DC3 even in year 6 as I hate the buunfights that are the open evenings. What I did find most useful was to do a daytime tour when the school is operating as normal.

Yes I meant the open 'days' not the evenings which I really don't like being involved in...

Parents of current Year 4 children and younger should read Sally-Anne's recent thread regarding changes to the content of the Bucks 11 plus which will affect children due to take the test in 2013, entering secondary school in 2014. The test for 2012 for children entering secondary school in 2013 (the current Year 5) is apparently the last year in the current format.
