Interpretation of SATs results for 12+
It says in the late transfer policy in Bucks that only children with 5s in both Math and English will be admitted for 12+ testing. We've got results this week and my child has 5 in Math, 5 in Reading and 4 in Writing. What does it mean in terms of 12+?
Re: Interpretation of SATs results for 12+
There will be an overall level for English when it has been calculated. Before you had to get a level 5 in English and Mathematics; it's possible they could change the rules this year to separate level 5s for reading, writing and maths.

You can appeal against 'refusal to test' - what was the teacher assessment?

Thanks a lot for the response. Teacher assessment is as follows:Guest55 wrote:There will be an overall level for English when it has been calculated. Speaking & listening 4
Reading 5
Writing 4
In Math Teacher assessment is 4 but test is 5.

Ask the school to calculate an overall level for English - or ask for the reading score and calculate it yourself from the link above.
I don't think the 12+ rules (for the LA testing) have been posted yet - remember more schools are doing their own thing this year.

Hi
Does anyone know if the grades are different for the actual exam and teacher assessment for SATs which will the secondary school use.
Many thanks

DS2's teacher assessment grades were almost identical to the exam grade - I think there was one sub-level difference in one subject. I would expect a secondary school to use the actual test result but if that is dramatically lower than the teacher assessment then they may accept a written explanation as to why.
Re: Interpretation of SATs results for 12+
We got a level 5 in English but level 4 in Maths. Teacher assessment was level 5 in Maths. Will the teacher assessment be taken into account if we decide to appeal for Refusal to test?
Re: Interpretation of SATs results for 12+
If you ask the panel to take it into account, they will consider it.crunchie wrote:Will the teacher assessment be taken into account if we decide to appeal for Refusal to test?
It's up to the individual appeal panel just how much weight they give to any particular piece of evidence, but in the past they do seem to have been more generous with appeals 'to test'!

Crunchie - try to get the mark - if it's a high level 4 then that will help.
