Changes for 2013 test/2014 admissions

Post by Mostlymum »

Have recently received the Governors report for DCHS, thought it would be helpful to flag up what's mentioned about admissions.
...the Governing Body has re-affirmed its commitment to work in
concert with the other grammar schools to maintain a coordinated approach to the key aspects of
admissions policy. This means that, jointly with other grammar schools, we will manage (and pay our
share of the costs for) a common admissions system for entry into year 7. We will also maintain the
current catchment areas. Changes to the 11+ test across Buckinghamshire from September 2013 for
September 2014 entry are under consideration and will be consulted on in January 2013.

From January 2013 we are responsible for maintaining our own “in year” waiting lists and for managing
our own admissions process for entry into years 8 and above. We have decided to no longer participate
in the LA’s 12+ selection test but set our own examinations, focused on Maths and English, to test
applicants for the very few entry places that arise in years 8-11.

DCHS is, unlike most Bucks grammar schools, heavily over-subscribed from within its catchment area.
The over subscription criteria that are used to determine how places are allocated for year 7 among in-
catchment qualified applicants are therefore important elements of policy. We have been considering
some minor changes to these criteria and will consult on them in January 2013.

Hope this is helpful.
