[quote="Sally-Anne"]That is very helpful, Lillie!
2012 entry:
Out-of-County tested: 2625
Out-of-County qualified: 1131
2013 entry:
Out-of-County tested: 2419 (-206, 7.8%)
Out-of-County qualified: 1023 (-108, 9.5%)
I believe the above stats are considering both out area partner and non-partner schools.
As out area partner schools are within catchment for the G Schools and if they are treated/considered separately then the statistics change dramatically as follows:
2012 Entry:
Out-of-County tested: 1515
Out-of-County qualified: 944
2013 entry:
Out-of-County tested: 2419 (+904, +60%)
Out-of-County qualified: 1023 (+79, +8.5%)

Are they?Happy_Daddy wrote: As out area partner schools are within catchment for the G Schools
Interesting point - they are certainly treated in the same way as catchment schools for the purpose of holding the test, but it's where the pupils live that counts when it comes to allocation. I don't think this means that the out area partner schools can be said to be "in catchment".

No, they're not. This is the full list of Partner Schools, both within and outside of Bucks. Someone with better geographic knowledge than me could probably sort them into the separate categories, but I do at least know enough to be certain that Slough, Langley and Milton Keynes are not in catchment for Bucks!Happy_Daddy wrote:As out area partner schools are within catchment for the G Schools

Not wishing to split hairs, but I think parts of Slough are in catchment for BGS. Or is it just that they are so close that applicants always get in?Slough, Langley and Milton Keynes are not in catchment for Bucks!

The numbers shown in the above post for 2012 appear to have been calculated as follows:
Total number of out of county tested (2625), less the number withdrawn from testing at Independent/out of county non-partner schools(619) = 1515
(The actual cohort was 2625 plus 619 - the 619 withdrawn from testing were already accounted for in the figures.)
Out of county qualified (1131) less the number qualified at Partner Schools within Bucks (187) = 944

Re: Just Received Raw Scores for March Born DD
Part of Slough is in catchment, as are some other areas outside of Bucks, but they are still considered to be out-of-county. The catchment area maps show that very clearly, with a division between "catchment - (in county)" and "catchment (out county)".scary mum wrote:Not wishing to split hairs, but I think parts of Slough are in catchment for BGS. Catchment has nothing to do with these figures - if the school does not have a Bucks postal address, it is out of county.

Re: Just Received Raw Scores for March Born DD
Langley and Slough schools lie within the catchment area for BGS.
Milton Keynes Preparatory School is within the catchment area for The Royal Latin
Obviously, it is the residence of the pupils which is the criteria for the admissions but my assumption
is, as these schools lie within the catchment area and the students must be living nearby and hence must be within
the catchment area. (And that must be the reason why they are partner schools).

Re: Just Received Raw Scores for March Born DD
Looking at the catchment maps for BGS and SWB these clearly include sizeable chunks of Slough and Maidenhead respectively.
BGS catchment appears to encompass Haymill (including Burnham station) and Britwell but not Cippenham while SWB catchment appears to be all of Maidenhead North of the A4

Re: Just Received Raw Scores for March Born DD
But this isn't about catchment! It is about the postal address of the school. If it isn't in Bucks, it is an out of county school!Happy_Daddy wrote:Langley and Slough schools lie within the catchment area for BGS.

These are the category headings under which Bucks reports stats for the test each year:
If all the Partner Schools were considered to be "in county" the category "Independent Out County Partner Schools" would not exist!Independent Bucks Partner Schools
Independent Out County Partner Schools
Independent / Out County Schools
No, they are partner schools becaue they are close to the county boundary and they therefore have substantial numbers of pupils wishing to take the Bucks test. Administering the test in school reduces the stress on the children and also the numbers taking the test centrally that BCC administers. It is a "win - win" for everyone.Obviously, it is the residence of the pupils which is the criteria for the admissions but my assumption
