Out of catchment for Royal Grammer or John Hampden

Post by mumofthree1972 »

Hi I was wondering if anyone can advise.
My son has passed the Bucks 11+ but we live in Ruislip west london.
Last year my daughter got into Becky High from our area and we were wondering what our chances are this year. Any help/ guesses/ news etc etc would be appreciated..
Many thanks for all help and comments.
As per usual the site really does offer an abundance of help and support when needed.
Many thanks

From previous years, it looks as though RGS is very unlikely, John Hampden an outside possibility and Chesham Grammar more or less definite (the journey might be tricky, though,inless there is a private coach).

Good luck.

I would check out the transport to Burnham - off the top of my head I can't think how you would get there other than driving which would take ages in the rush hour.

There are substantial numbers of students living in in the west London area who travel to and from BGS by train.

I'm not aware of any trains fom Ruislip to Burnham - you would have to get to Ealing or West Drayton or somewhere first, but I'm sure the OP has a plan for the school chosen - there may well be car shares etc.

I was just glancing at the BCC website and noticed that by May 2012 John Hampden's allocation profile had increased to 20.050 miles outside catchment. http://www.buckscc.gov.uk/assets/conten ... _Final.pdf" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

It could even be that the school was "All Offered" by September.

To add to that, I have just checked the actual numbers allocated for 2012, and by 26th July JHG had 10 vacant places, so it was definitely "All Offered".
