BODMAS in VR or not BODMAS?

Hi
The correct answer is 55, so may I suggest AA as being the correct choice.
The question is not only "technically" wrong for Bucks and any other LEA that uses NFER format questions, but if the author insists that the answer is "B" then it is mathematically incorrect, as most people will agree.
Regards
Mike

Dear Mike
Agree its technically incorrect, and should not have been included by the author.
However the child cannot differentiate as BODMAS/BIDMAS is generally taught in year 6. Our familiarisation sessions start in the summer of year 5 and our 11 plus is taken at the very beginning of October in year 6 and therefore, more than likely not covered.
I touch very briefly on BODMAS/BIDMAS during my sessions but I try not to confuse the child. They [and parent] have to assume that the author has written the question in a mathematically correct manner.
One would sincerely hope that the 'real' test has been proof read accordingly.
