Qualifying Score

Post by MumofTwoSD »

Hi,

With the new method, I hear that 121 is still the qualifying mark and 141 is the full mark.

Does a child getting 141 gets any preference than a child getting around 130?

I am ignoring the catchment for the moment, just wondering if the preparation should be aimed at getting a qualifying score of 121 or achieving towards the higher range?

TIA.

121 is all that is required, no preference is given for getting higher scores.

141 does not mean 'full marks' either! It means the raw score has been standardised to 141; that score will be different depending on the attainment of pupils born in the same month.

Thank you for your replies. Do we know how many marks should we obtain to get the minimum raw score of 121? What is the total marks for which the two tests will be conducted? Do we have these details anywhere that I can go through?

Many thanks.

As the test is new any information from previous years is irrelevant, and no-one knows very much about it. It will be standardised for age and approx 30% of children will qualify.

I can tell you that my daughter got a test result of 128. Out of interest we asked for her raw score. She got 76/80. She is a December birthday.
Hope this is useful.

It won't be relevant to the new test, I'm afraid.
