Re: letter from Bucks Council re prep and transfer test
No, this person is cheeky and ignorant making it sound as though bucks is being kind and generous letting out of county children use bucks schools. It just isn't like that and never was. They understand nothing about education funding or school admissions. Also, whoever has decided that it is ok to test some ten year olds in the afternoon and not others knows not much about standardised testing, or cares not about making it harder for some ooc children. If the grammars are paying bucks cc to do this strange organising on their behalf maybe they should request a refund!Lea's mum wrote:That is interesting, thanks Patricia. So the person I had on the phone from Bucks CC really didn't know much about the whole system.patricia wrote:Yes indeed Bucks have been asked to organise.Lea's mum wrote:That is not what I have been told. Bucks CC organised the test and the allocation across all Grammar Schools. All out of county are going through the test in the afternoon, not just one specific Grammar school.
However with regard to OCC being given the afternoon slots, I know that is not true. One of my children who lives out of county and in addition goes to an out of county school has been given a morning slot.

That made me chuckle Lea's mum! I'm willing to bet a lot of money that your husband's vocab link will be remembered if it ever crops up in a test!

Oh yes, she has no issue remembering the words when daddy is helping with special tips!

If she just rang County Hall it would be a person in the contact centre not someone in admissions.

We are hoping and praying that our daughter passes her exam and gets a place at BGS where her sibling is currently in.
What is BGS policy on sibling joining if they did not do to well in the exam?

You must qualify for a GS place.

I know she has to pass to get a place in GS. That's why we are doing practice papers at home and praying that she does well.Guest55 wrote:You must qualify for a GS place.

Once they qualify the score is unimportant.

Surely the "score" (as in the pass mark) is the decider whether my daughter qualifies for GS or not? Or have I missed somethingGuest55 wrote:Once they qualify the score is unimportant.

I think you are correct. If your daughter qualifies, it doesn't make a difference if she scores 121 or 141.
