Help,my child just came back from school.She said the headteacher announced to the Year 6 yeargroup in the assembly today that they have CAT TEST next week.All the children were surprised .Noone knows what CAT test is.
She also came home with secondary school selection form.
What is CAT test? Is it a multiple choice test or what?Is too early for SAT test.She only started year 6 today.

CAT tests (Cognitive Abilities Tests)

Intended for children aged from 7-15 years, these tests feature:

verbal reasoning - with words and word structures and using words in context;

quantitative reasoning - with numbers and symbols, which indicates potential for achievement in science and mathematics;

non-verbal reasoning - with geometric or spatial elements, without verbal influences.

Although the verbal element is what concerns most English teachers, the tests are rarely taken in isolation, so the information passed to you is likely to cover all three areas.
