Standardization according to gender???

I think that the panel member was making an incredibly clumsy and badly worded attempt to explain the process of standardisation.

I have never claimed to be an expert on the dratted subject, but even I can do better than that.

Panel members do receive training, but there is no guarantee that it sinks in. I am surprised that the LEA rep didn't correct the statement though.

Perhaps the LA rep didn't know how standardisation works either :lol:

A degree in Maths (or Stats or whatever) seems to be a pre-requisite!

I very much doubt that they are trained in the finer points of standardisation.

Anyway, strictly speaking, panel members shouldn't be attempting to explain standardisation to parents - that should be done by LA representatives (some of whom will do a better job than others :D).
