Agree practise physically making them on paper in 3d. This is the whole point of nets questions as far as I understand it: to see how capable one's brain is of thinking in more than two dimensions. Related to map-reading skills and spatial awareness generally. I tried to think of them positively in that they will help build useful skills for later life! (Rather than just some horrible thing children have to do for a test.)
