Reviews - does an answer take so long always?

Hi - we will be going to review with my DD who got 117.

I have been told that answers can take till Feb next year to arrive!

Did anyone who went to review last year receive an earlier answer? Do they wait until they have looked at every single child on review to tell people - or is it just the luck of the draw as you go along?

Thanks for any info!

Booklady

Hi Booklady, yes, unbearable as it seems (I was in your shoes this time last year :( ) you don't get any info until February, despite the fact that you have to make your decisions (selection review? appeal? 12+?) and gather your case at speed. Any other approach would not be fair as there has to be moderation across separate review panels. Good luck - this forum will probably prove to be a lifeline if you do decide to go down that route; it certainly was for me.

Yes - I also got a kind PM that told me the date - the letters will be posted on Friday 6th Feb! I guess its only fair they have seen everyones submissions!

We are going down the review route - with a score of 117, it would seem silly not to. And we have two solid CATS results for the NVR which is the main place she fell down on!

Seeing the head on Wed to discuss - and preparing the paperwork already.

Thanks all - this forum will be my lifeline I know!! And my hubbie had hoped I'd spend less time on it now!!  So had I to be honest!!

Hi Booklady,

So sorry to hear about your DD's score and that you now will have (yet) more waiting & anxiety. However FYI there was a girl last year at your school who got a score about the same and 'won' her appeal and is now at a grammar school. The head therefore will be well versed on the approach to take.

Good luck and everything crossed!

Yes it's the waiting that's worst. Just heard she got a good 1,2 recc though! So everything crossed!
Thanks xx

Ahh - someone in exactly the same situation (even down to the score. Although the recommendation is different - 2,1 ... )

It is very stressful, isn't it? I do wish it was all over. Having it drag on - more paperwork, then hanging over past Christmas ... *sigh*

If only they still had the old system (which, looking at the published stats, was harder to tutor for anyway - so the change was pointless) - my DC would have passed on the VR alone, according to the headteacher. It was the maths that caused the low marks. Panicking under pressure, I fear. Anyway...

Good luck with yours.
