Not sure about following choices - which is better?

They are all very good schools, and the only way you will be able to decide between them is by looking at them yourself.

Where do you live at present? DCGS and Langley both operate catchment areas, and have strict residence requirements:

5. Evidence of Normal Home Address
The process for verifying the normal home address of applicants will match that outlined in the County Scheme except that:
a) In order to qualify for admission under rules referring to the school‟s catchment area, the applicant must have been resident within the catchment area continuously since April 1st of the year preceding proposed admission.
b) If a family still owns a property within 20 miles of the school which has been the main family home, a property closer to the school will not be accepted as the basis for a legitimate residence qualification even if the former property is leased to a third party.

Langley Grammar
b) The School’s Admission Area comprises the following postcode sectors;
SL0 - 9
TW3 - 5, TW7, TW13 -15, TW18 - 20
UB1 - 10
W5, W7, W13
HA0 - 5
RG12, RG42

d) If the main address has changed temporarily, for example where a family is renting a property on a Short Term Tenancy Agreement (12 months or under), then the parental address remains that at which the parent was resident before the period of temporary residence began unless it can be shown that all ties to the previous address have been relinquished, or that the move is not easily reversible.

We live in New Denham which is covered by catchment areas for following schools

Dr Challoner's
John Hampden
The Royal Grammar
Langley
Herschel

Our preference is Dr Challoner's but it seems they can't cover all applicants within the catchment area. In terms of distance from the school we are well beyond 5 miles they covered last year.

Hence, were wondering how are other schools and which should be our next option.

Ow, ow, ouch. New Denham is in the one pocket of Bucks where there is simply no guarantee of a catchment GS place in any given year.

You must be around 9 miles from DCGS and 12 miles from JHG & RGS. This year the distances were:

DCGS - 7.172 miles
JHG - All Offered
RGS - 7.882 miles (Edited to add: This distance was out of area, so all catchment children received a place in 2014. So, this year JHG and RGS would have produced a place, but there is no guarantee of that in future.

I suggest that you re-post on Berks to get a better picture of the likelihood of a place at Langley or Herschel, and then I advise that you put the schools in your real order of preference and hope for the best.

All I can say beyond that is that this is a recognised problem that has rattled around for many years, and Bucks appeal panels know that ...

up to what distance is DCGS likely to offer places this year.

No one can tell you, because the deadline for applications is today!

Places are allocated by catchment and distance, not score.

On the basis of historic data, DCGS will not go out of catchment, and is unlikely to reach the far reaches of South Bucks.
